If Blake Shelton could describe his 2015 in a word, it'd very likely be "upswing."

The Voice coach, whose tenth studio album If I'm Honest was released in May, chronicled how last year went from unbearably painful to wonderfully hopeful in a preview of a forthcoming Chelsea interview.

Shelton and ex-wife Miranda Lambert finalized their divorce in July 2015, but within a matter of months, he found solace in Stefani. She'd previously been just a casual acquaintance, but Shelton says in the clip above he very quickly realized she was experiencing the same type of hurt. The resulting connection forged what would later become real romance.

"It would have started with last year when my marriage and everything just fell apart, and then trying to pick the pieces up from being at the rock bottom," he recalls. "And then to all of a sudden to find out [Stefani's] going through basically the same exact thing at the same time and this is how my life turned around — so quickly, too, by the way. All this just has to be meant to happen. So I made a record about it."

By November 2015, Shelton and Stefani were officially an item, but he admits he's still a little bit reticent to go into detail about the relationship.

"It makes me nervous to talk about it," he says.

Still, there's no doubt that it's real — when Chelsea Handler asks if being with Stefani is the happiest Shelton has been in his life, he makes his answer short and sweet:

"Absolutely no question about that."

Check out the preview above, and look out for the release of Shelton's Chelsea episode today (July 7).
