Having been the subject of some heavy muckraking amid his new relationship with Gwen Stefani, it's only fitting that Blake Shelton's next gig will find him beneath a few complementary buckets of slime.

Today (November 9), Nickelodeon announced The Voice coach will host the 2016 Kids Choice Awards, and in a corresponding promo above—which spoofs an episode of The Voice—he's flooded by a deluge of the network's famous prank-goo after turning his chair in support of the show. "I gotta be on Team Kids Choice!" he insists before the chemically enhanced rain falls. Overeager press is suddenly the least of his worries...

This morning (October 9), Shelton told TODAY that he and his agent landed on the job together researching more unique opportunities. He joked to Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford that he'll happily serve as an attainable indicator of what the young audience can expect from adulthood.

"I'm like the reality," he said. "I'm like 'Here's what you're gonna end up like, kids. This is the best you can hope for.'"

Headlining tours and weekly TV spots? I'm sure they wouldn't mind terribly...

Nick Jonas, Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel have hosted the show's most recent installments.

How do you think Shelton will do as the Kids Choice Awards host? Be sure to see how he handles additional slime-sessions when the show airs next March!
