Despite the fact that Team Britney Spears immediately vowed not to contribute "in any way, shape or form" to Lifetime TV's bound-to-be-tragic Britney unauthorized biopic (“nor does it have her blessing"), the production is still, somehow, moving forward.

In fact, Natasha Bassett, the Hail, Caesar! actress with an Australian accent (!) inexplicably picked to play the role of the "Slumber Party" Living Legend, has begun doing the promo rounds for the forthcoming Lifetime TV movie, due out in February.

In an on-set interview yesterday (Nov. 30) with ET's Leanne Aguilera (Aguilera? Hmm...), Bassett explained how she feels that Britney Spears — a woman who feels awkward enough lip-syncing to her oldest songs in a car — would "enjoy" watching her life's most vulnerable and heartbreaking personal struggles play out on national television.

"I really hope she watches the movie, because I think she'd really enjoy it. It's really a love letter to her and to her story, so I really hope she watches it and I just wish her all the happiness in the world."

Right.

Bassett also described her rigorous preparation for the role of Britney: "I watched every video I can. Every interview I can, and just immersed myself into Britneyland," she explained — which also happens to be what most Britney fans already do with themselves during the waking hours.

Other actors included in this cinematic tour de force include Clayton Chitty as Kevin Federline, Nathan Keyes as Justin Timberlake, Peter Benson as Larry Rudolph, Kelly McCabe as Jason Alexander, Markian Tarasiuk as Wade Robson and her parents Jamie and Lynne, played by Matthew Harrison and Nicole Oliver.

The biopic will reportedly include takes on Britney's iconic 2001 MTV Video Music Awards performance of "I'm A Slave 4 U" — yes, with a snake — and her controversial Madonna kiss from the 2003 VMAs.

"It was awful. I was crying," the actress nervously giggled about her "Slave" reptilian co-star. Great!

"Im not a dancer! I've never danced in my life!" she added elsewhere in the interview. Perfect!

Watch the interview above to see more horrifying clips, including Bassett performing "I Love Rock N Roll." People also has some exclusive photos of their tragic staging of Britney's wedding to Kevin Federline, which looks like a cross between a Party City ad and a porn parody. Go there to see photos, if you must.
