More than a decade later, Britney Spears and Madonna's 2003 MTV VMAs kiss remains one of the most iconic moments in the show's history. Years later, Britney's manager, Larry Rudolph, is opening up about the shocking lip-lock.

In a video filmed for Billboard, Larry talks about Madonna's role in the jaw-dropping scenario.

"Once that kiss happened ... the world exploded, as a result, everybody in the place and everybody in the entire world -- the media and everything else," he recalls, adding, "Madonna had been very, very, very rigid about the rehearsals for that particular performance ... She was telling Britney and I every day, 'Be here tomorrow at 10 o'clock. She would never address me by name, she would just say, 'You make sure Britney's here tomorrow at 10 o'clock.'"

However, after the performance was over, Madonna ran into Larry in an elevator, where she embraced him -- and remembered his name.

"She put her arms around my waist and gave me a big kiss on the lips," the manager says. "And she said, 'You see Larry, it was all worth it.'"

You can relive the shocking smooch, and listen to Larry discuss it, in the video above.
