Just a few weeks after both Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake inadvertently teased the possibility of a potential future collaboration, the dreams of lingering Britney-Justin shippers everywhere have been (mostly) dashed by the princess of pop. Oops!

In a preview clip from Spears' interview on London's This Morning talk show, the segment of which airs Monday, October 3, the Glory artist sweetly squashed the possibility of a Brit Brit-JT duet, revealing that while she wouldn't completely rule it out, right now now it's "just a lot of talk."

"One of my friends asked me if I would do a song with [Justin] and I said yeah," the pop star explained when asked if a duet with the "Can't Stop the Feeling" singer would ever be on the table. "So they took it as I really wanted to do [it]. And that would be fine but yeah, I think it's just a lot of talk..."

Ever the people pleaser, however, when she was pressed further about the possibility of an "Oops, I'm Bring Sexy Back"-type collaboration between "Pinky" and "Stinky," Spears responded in good nature: "You never know!"

Back in early September, the "Mood Ring" singer suggested during a fan Q&A that she'd be open to collaborating on a song with her former Y2K flame.

When Timberlake received the news during an interview with E! days later, he responded enthusiastically: "Absolutely! ... Give us a call!"

Unfortunately for now, it seems, Justin won't be receiving that phone call any time soon.
