Swedish duo Korallreven completely transform Britney Spears' 'Till the World Ends' with a new remix that unmasks the hidden, haunting side of the catchy pop tune.

The remix starts out like a new age song, with sparse, airy instrumentation next to the whispered vocals, "All I know is life on Earth is evil / There may be life somewhere else / But there isn't / How do you know? / Because I know things."

The new age vibe remains as Brit's vocals arrive, and the intensity slowly builds through the first two verses. Just when it seems like thumping techno beats are about to appear, a single loud drum echoes instead, followed a few seconds later by another. The sporadic drums give the song an almost eerie feeling.

Emphasizing percussion over the song's hook might sound counter-intuitive, but this minimalist approach works really well. It's a nice re-interpretation of the track.

'Till the World Ends' has seen a number of remixes, both official and unofficial, from the version featuring Nicki Minaj and co-writer Kesha to the strangely compelling R. Kelly remix. The song peaked at No. 3 on Billboard back in May.
