Crooner Bruno Mars covers the second annual GQ Style Bible, which lands on newsstands on March 26.

Mars, who usually wears tuxedo jackets and an ever-present fedora, is showcased in such Rat Pack attire throughout the spread -- like the cover to the left and the snazzy photo below. Look at those white shoes. A select few men can make those look good, while Mars makes 'em look great. The rest of the photos of Bruno Mars, stylin' and profilin', are here.

In the feature, he talks about how he lied to the cops after being busted for using cocaine in Las Vegas, saying it was his first time. It wasn't a planned fib. It just… happened! "I don’t know where that came from," he said. "I was really intoxicated. I was really drunk. So a lot of that is a big blur, and I try every day to forget and keep pushing."

As for why he grinned in his mugshot? "I have no idea," the singer said. "It was a picture."

You know, he has a point there. People smile in pictures. Why do mugshots have to be any different?

With that cocaine bust happily in the past, Mars also spoke about how hard writing songs is. Ever tried it? If you haven't, then shut up and don't accuse him of being a whiner just because he bemoans the degree of difficulty that defines the process.

"You know how hard it is to write a big song?," he said. "That s--- is hard, man. It’s so hard to do. Might be one of the hardest things to ever do. I don’t ever want to come out with something safe and get away with 'It sounds good!' It’s got to be more than sounding good. The music I like are events."

"Event songs," in his mind, include those by Queen and Michael Jackson. "F---ing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ is my favorite song—that song’s an event," he said. "And that’s what I want to do. I’m sure that shocked the world, that song. 'Billie Jean' shocked the world. 'Smells Like Teen Spirit.' Those songs are events. That guy put everything he got into that, and he meant it. It’s that unexplainable high. Why I keep doing it. That feeling that you keep on chasing and chasing. Because it’s nothing, man. It’s taking the air and turning it into something. That’s the feeling.”

In lieu of events song, he also sings about sex, because, well, who doesn't like sex? Plus, he can't write an event song every single time. "It feels good to sing about. It feels… sexy. It puts you in a sexy frame of mind. It feels good to project. Sex is a great party starter," Mars said. Tru dat!

Mars, born Peter Hernandez, was also a mini Elvis, playing the King in his dad's and uncle's variety show when he was just 4. "I'd go to school and kids are calling me Peter and we’re playing baseball and kickball and shit, and then—'All right, guys, I've got to go!'—you put on a sequined jumpsuit, and all of a sudden you’re Bruno, the world's youngest Elvis impersonator!"

Now fast forward from his talent show days to his retirement and post-career. How does he envision himself? "On a beach, drinking out of a coconut, watching some kids running around in the sand, looking at the ocean… And then planning a reunion tour, overweight," he said.

What a kidder!
