One of Major Lazer’s newest remixes is this reinvention of Bruno Mars’ ‘Locked Out of Heaven.’ The new arrangement unlocked the subtle reggae vibe in the original, slowing down the tempo and emphasizing the horns and soaring vocals.

With the new instrumentation, Mars' "Aw yeah yeah yeah yeah" line sounded like it came straight out of a Bob Marley song. The laid-back, carefree vibe was enhanced with video game bleeps, which seemed like an odd combination but worked brilliantly.

‘Locked Out of Heaven’ hit No. 1 in its uptempo form, so it was fascinating to see how Diplo and company recast the tune into something completely different. Others, including Paul Oakenfold and the M Machine, have remixed the track, but we love what Major Lazer did with it.

This isn’t the only collaboration between Mars and Major Lazer. The Hawaiian crooner appears on the upcoming Major Lazer album 'Free the Universe,' with Tyga and Mystic on a track called ‘Bubble Butt.’
