Bruno Mars will take the stage at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, performing live for the second consecutive year.

The chart-topping singer-songwriter is nominated for four VMAs this time around. His smash single 'Grenade' has earned nods for Video Of The Year, Best Male Video and Best Pop Video, while his primate-inspired video for 'The Lazy Song' has scored him a Best Choreography nom.

Mars Made his VMA debut in 2010 when he appeared on stage with B.o.B and Hayley Williams for a medley performance of 'Nothin' on You,' 'Airplanes' and 'The Only Exception.' 'Nothin' on You' was nominated for Best Pop Video, but lost to Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance.'

Mars joins the likes of Adele, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and Young the Giant, who have all been named as performers for the evening. Meanwhile, the stage will be shared with VMA presenters such as Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Jonah Hill, Rick Ross, Odd Future and Seth Rogan.

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9PM ET/PT on MTV and MTV.com. Fans can vote for their favorite videos online through Aug. 16, and for the Best New Artist category through the show's air date.
