Bryce Vine has come a long way -- from a chubby theater kid who once broke his neck (really) to a rapping voice major at the Berklee College of Music. Now 22-years-old, the California native relishes that he's is not just an entertainer, he's a musician, and hopes that will help him conquer 'The Glee Project' this summer.

At 13, he self-taught some guitar skills; and as a self-proclaimed fat kid, he was still trying to find his comfort zone. "I still feel like the chubby kid that I used to be, and I'll convince myself that I don't deserve to be where I am," Vine admits. "Luckily, fate has a way of changing your mind."

That's for sure -- the young hopeful was one of 34,000 people who submitted an audition for 'The Glee Project' via Myspace, and obviously, he was chosen. Really, if it wasn't for that bit of fate he mentioned, Vine wouldn't be here today. At 15, while vacationing in the Bahamas with his family, he plunged into some water containing a coral reef. Not only did he suffer cuts and scrapes, he split his head open and literally broke his neck -- just like mama always warned.

Thankfully, he healed beautifully. Now, armed with songwriting and guitar skills, and a knack for pop, punk, reggae and gospel, to name a few, Vine will hit the stage against 11 other competitors, jonesing to conquer the show and catch a seven-episode role in 'Glee' Season 3.

"Performing is one of the most fulfilling things," Vine says. Will he come out fulfilled or will he find himself lacking? We'll have to wait and see. 'The Glee Project' kicks off on Oxygen on June 12.
