Tyra Banks Says BTS Are ‘Super Important’ for Representation
South Korean music superstars BTS kicked off the America's Got Talent results show on Wednesday (September 12), and despite the enthusiasm of the audience—many of whom waved light sticks from the crowd—there was one fan in particular who may have been the most excited of all.
Following the live show Tuesday night (September 11), AGT host and vocal BTS supporter Tyra Banks couldn't help but gush about Jungkook, J-Hope, Suga, V, Jimin, Jin and RM.
"I love them so much! I mean we're posing together, we're dancing together. Like, I really, truly, for a lot of different reasons, love them," Banks told Entertainment Tonight.
The model, actress and TV personality also praised BTS' positive impact on the landscape of global music
"I love that the fans in America are loving them," she continued, calling the group's growing presence in the U.S. "super important."
"I think you need to see representation of everybody…and for girls to be like, 'Oh my god! I [love them]!' is politically, socially and spiritually super strong."
As it turns out, the feeling of admiration is mutual. Banks explained how RM told her he used to watch her talk show, The Tyra Show, back in the mid-2000s: "RM was saying that he loves me from back in the day of The Tyra Show. I'm like, 'Well how old were you when you were watching that?' He said he used to watch The Tyra Show in South Korea. I'm like, 'I love you for that!'"
