Cee Lo Green and Florence + the Machine are among 19 artists who contribute to 'Rave On Buddy Holly,' a new tribute album in honor of the influential rock 'n roll pioneer.

Due in stores on June 28, two months before what would have been Holly's 75th birthday, the album features new interpretations of Holly's work by some of the biggest names in popular music, including Green's version of '(You're So Square) Baby, I Don't Care' and Florence + the Machine's rendition of 'Not Fade Away.'

As for Holly's other well-known hits, 'Oh Boy!' is performed by She & Him, Modest Mouse cover 'That'll Be the Day,' and rock legend Lou Reed takes 'Peggy Sue.' Other big names on the project include Paul McCartney, Kid Rock, Fiona Apple and the Black Keys.

Holly was tragically killed at age 22 in the famous 1959 plane crash that also took the lives of Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper and inspired the classic Don McLean song 'American Pie.' He was a charter member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.
