Caitlyn Jenner recently came under fire for her less-than-enthusiastic endorsement of marriage equality, but after reflecting on the topic, it looks like she's officially in favor of it.

In a lengthy blog post on her official website, Caitlyn addressed her viewpoint on gay marriage, saying it wasn’t until her gay friends spoke to her about their own experiences that she fully understood why marriage equality was so important.

She wrote, "Like many people, there was a time when I didn’t realize how important it is for gay couples to have the right to get married. But after hearing from my gay friends and learning more about the hardships they faced because of discrimination, it became clear to me that everyone should be able to marry the person they love. I can only hope that by sharing my story, there’s someone out there whose mind has been changed about trans people.”

Caitlyn’s puzzling beliefs first came to light during a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres. Although Caitlyn claimed that she was “okay with [gay marriage]” and that she didn’t “want to stand in front of somebody’s happiness," she also expressed that, “…at first, I was not for it. I thought, ‘I’m a traditionalist.’ I’m older than most people in the audience. I kind of like tradition. It’s always been a man and a woman, and I’m thinking — I don’t quite get it."

Meanwhile, Ellen addressed Caitlyn’s comments during an interview with Howard Stern, expressing her confusion. She said, "I said, ‘You’re wanting people to understand and accept you—this is like, really confusing to people, and you still have a judgment about gay people and marriage.’ I don’t fully understand it, either. But I want everyone to be happy.”
