Is Cameron Diaz officially retired from acting? Isn't she? Either way, she's come a long way from being exclusively referred to as Jim Carrey's sidekick.

Diaz, who bore into the Hollywood acting scene 24 years ago as a star of The Mask, has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors, starring in huge franchises like Charlie's Angels and Shrek and iconic comedies like There's Something About Mary and My Best Friend's Wedding.

Still, fans of the actress were stunned when Selma Blair insinuated earlier this month that Diaz was done with acting altogether.

And while Blair claimed it was all a joke, Diaz seemed to confirm the notion that she was stepping away from the limelight in a new Entertainment Weekly interview. She told fellow co-stars of The Sweetest Thing Christina Applegate and Selma Blair: "I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies."

Diaz had previously explained during a 2017 chat with Gwyneth Paltrow why she decided to take a break from acting after her most recent role in 2014's Annie.

"I just went, 'I can't really say who I am to myself,' which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole," she said.

Well, whether Diaz returns to the silver screen or not, she's certainly made a splash in Hollywood. See Cameron Diaz through the years — from 1994 until present day — below.
