It's been a few months since Carly Rae Jepsen released E•MO•TION, and it's still looking like she went and ran away with one of the best pop albums of the year.

While every song on the start-to-finish solid LP could conceivably become a single (and should be, for the record), she's made the right choice in selecting "Your Type," her aching ode to unrequited love — inspired after falling in love with a "guy who likes other guys" — as the next selection from the record.

The gay boy heartbreak storyline, however, doesn't make its way into the fantasy of the official video. But don't worry — it's still mostly depressing!

Instead of one-way lust, we find a worldweary Carly on her grind, working at a ticket window and crashing on public benches for a quick nap in the dark — or perhaps just a quiet contemplation about why she's still so unbelievably underrated.

After an unfortunate moment of headphone theft, the "Run Away With Me" pop princess heads down to a neon-drenched local bar to hop on stage and perform to a nearly empty room of odd, entirely unenthused strangers, all while using her imagination to briefly escape, transforming into a fierce rock goddess with an adoring audience and a sick pair of silver boots. Or, wait: Was that really just a fantasy, after all?

"On the outside, she might have even seemed less ordinary," a late night radio host declares in the video's opening moments before launching into a "Cinderella story," likely a cheeky nod to her run on Broadway as Cinderella years ago.

"Never judge a book by its cover...and certainly not this one." Ain't it the truth.
