Carly Rae Jepsen's upcoming album, E.MO.TION, finally has an official release date for the end of summer — which is a few months later than we originally anticipated. Woops!

If you're wondering what that album title could possibly mean -- emotions are such nuanced and multifaceted things, after all -- Carly was nice enough to break it down for us in a recent interview. Speaking with PopCrush Night's Lisa Paige, Carly said she was inspired by an unlikely source: the dictionary.

She said, "I was like, 'Emotion. Well, we all have it. What does Webster’s have to say?' So I went to look at the definition, and what I love is that it said as an example: 'She was attempting to control her emotions.' And I was like, 'This is exactly what I am doing with this album.' So, it felt really cool. And the phonetic spelling just sort of felt like you had to feel out the word. Artistically, I was like, 'I love it.'"

Her next single has been announced as "Run Away With Me," and will be released in July with a music video to follow shortly after. We hope she incorporates more dating app product placement into all music videos in the future, because it worked so well for her in "I Really Like You."

E.MO.TION is set for an August 21 release. You can pre-order the album beginning on June 23.
