Cassadee Pope has been described as a “pop rocker with a sensitive side.” However, on ‘The Voice’ tonight (Nov. 19), she showcased her country heart by performing ‘Over You’ – a song co-written by her coach Blake Shelton and his wife, Miranda Lambert.

Shelton has a very strong emotional attachment to the tune, as it was written about the death of his brother. Pope sought to make him proud tonight by doing justice not only to the song, but to the meaning behind it. Clad in a flowing white dress, the singer brought a presence to the stage that was simple, elegant and highly effective.

“What a special moment for you. Thank you for taking me on that ride with you,” Christina Aguilera said. (And she also couldn’t help pointing out that Pope “looked like a beautiful lotus flower” in the gown that she was wearing.)

“The emotional connection to the song was obviously a huge part of it, but I also started thinking of how this is so markedly different from anything you’ve ever done,” Adam Levine observed. “I want to see more country music from you, because it feels really good.”

Shelton lauded her efforts with a standing ovation, tears shining in his eyes. “Cassadee, you just sang easily the most important and the most personal song that I’ve ever been a part of writing in my life, but you made me feel like I was hearing it for the first time. Words can’t express what that means.”

If Pope's performance moved you as much as it moved us, then she definitely has a shot at staying in the top 5.
