Alicia Keys was blazing hot as she premiered her brand new single and album title track 'Girl on Fire' at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards tonight (Sept. 6.) She began the song singing in the dark, illuminated only by the red lights on the stage. She was also standing up while playing the piano and wore her newly shorn locks slicked back. She was hotter than the lava of a thousand volcanoes. Yeah right she was!
With Kanye West and Jay-Z skipping the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne took over the headlining hip-hop performance slot, though their heavily-censored rendition of 'Yuck!' may have left some viewers scratching their heads.
And the Video of the Year at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards is... Rihanna's 'We Found Love!' RiRi beat out Drake, Katy Perry, Gotye and M.I.A. to take home the big award of the night for one of the songs she had performed to open the award show broadcast.
Demi Lovato and Rita Ora presented the award for Best Male Video at the 2012 MTV VMAs and the moon man to the one and only Chris Brown. He won the VMA for his clip for 'Turn Up the Music.'
Femcee Nicki Minaj took home the coveted VMA for Best Female Video for 'Starpships' at the 2012 MTV VMAs.
Actress Rashida Jones and actor/comedian/ex-'SNL'er Andy Samberg were on hand to give out the award for Best Hip Hop Video at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards . We're scratching our nose at this too, but at least Jones made up for it by rapping before handing the award over to Drake.

Rihanna kicked off the festivities in true gangsta fashion, rising from beneath the stage lounging in a throne, all while basking in red light. She sang 'Cockiness' and 'We Found Love,' but the ultra risque first song was definitely the standout.
