For years, comedian Kevin Hart has been killing it as a supporting player in funny features from 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' to 'The Five-Year Engagement' and 'Think Like a Man,' not to mention his hit stand-up specials. It's about time Hollywood gave him a comedy vehicle of his own. It's a shame the one he got is as wonky as 'Ride Along.'
Before 'Paranormal Activity 5' comes out this Halloween and continues the terrifying tale of the possessed Katie and her spooky nephew, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the spin-off 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones.' Made to cater to the Latino audience that has been a major force in making this franchise a hit, this found-footage feature dedicatedly plays by the rules and expectations of the first four films while building on its mythos in a way that is sure to satisfy fans.
The "manic pixie dream girl" has become a well-recognized stereotype in romance movies. She's bubbly, flirtatious and quirky, but most importantly, she's a tool for the moody male hero to discover himself/a new lease on life. This usually makes her a bit grating and stale. But in Spike Jonze's 'Her,' this stock character is reimagined with a sci-fi twist and an incredible insightfulness that shakes off all of its stodgy expectations.
Foxes -- she's a female singer -- has one of those voices that just sticks with you. While her closest sonic relative is her fellow Brit Florence + The Machine, Foxes has a style and a sound that's all her own. 'Holding Onto Heaven' is an uplifting dance song that doesn't feel like an EDM banger... and that's it's best quality!
