Everyone has a good ghost story, even your favorite pop stars. Otherworldly spirits and forces don’t discriminate when it comes to the people they visit and they’ve apparently targeted the likes of Adele, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga. Celebs and pop stars are not immune to ghosts and are not provided added protection under the cloak of fame.

Some celeb ghost stories are terrifying –one diva saw a mustached man while looking in a mirror. Others tell of spirits that are much more benevolent – a certain band did not sense any negative energy from a ghost who turned up while they were recording an album. Even so, witnessing or being exposed to a spirit or a ghost is scary business. It’s enough to make the hair on your neck stand up or send chills running down your spine.

We’ve rounded up some of the scariest celeb ghost stories. Some are outrageous, others are questionable and some seem down right believable. Read on and decide for yourself… if you dare. Mwahahahaha!

Katy Perry

Katy Perry reportedly received a freak out at a home in L.A. The National Enquirer, not always the most reliable source, said the 'California Gurl' was freaked out while on a set. She was apparently alone in the master suite and saw a mustachioed man staring back at her in a mirror. And no, she wasn't in drag. “Katy raced from the room and down the enormous staircase, screaming at the top of her lungs! Everyone tried to calm her down. She told them she would not return to that room, and wanted to get out of the house immediately," a source claimed.

'American Idol' House

'American Idol' contestants used to crash out in a nine-bedroom Bel Air Mansion. Season 10's Lauren Alaina and James Durbin say the house, which sold in 2011 for $11.2 million, has otherworldly inhabitants. "I saw something white that looked like an arm," Durbin said. Alaina added, "Me and Pia [Toscano] were upstairs and the doors flew open. We were watching a scary movie before that and we were [already] freaked out." Looks like the new owners may have inherited some, uh, tenants.

Adele

The British singer was reportedly so spooked by spirits that she didn't want to sleep in her new $6 million crib after "hearing things that made her jump," according to a source. The mansion used to be a convent, which seems like the perfect place for unresting spirits to dwell. The 'Someone Like You' singer hired a bodyguard to protect her, although we're not sure that'd be much of a help when it comes to battling ghosts on the property.

Miley Cyrus

The singer rented a flat in London, which was converted from a haunted bakery with history. She explained that her little sister was once burned in the shower when the water inexplicably turned to hot without the knob being touched. Yikes! Cyrus also said she "thought I had seen a little boy sitting on the sink watching me take a shower so I felt really freaked out." She continued, "I was sitting there the next night and maybe I’m crazy, but I could have sworn I could see this little boy sitting there on the sink, kicking his feet."

Maroon 5

The Adam Levine-fronted band recorded 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long' in Harry Houdini's said-to-be-haunted L.A. county home. Maroon 5 guitarist James Valentine saw a benevolent ghost on the stairs and "never felt any bad vibes." So, it was a Casper the Friendly Ghost-like experience. Maybe singer Adam Levine's tattoos intimidated the harmless ghost. Still, seeing a spirit of some sort in a reportedly haunted residence has got to be terrifying. We wonder if it influenced the recording of the album on some cosmic level.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato deemed her house in Texas as "so ridiculously haunted." However, it's not inhabited by a malicious spirit -- it's a little girl she believes is named Emily. The singer takes the spirit occupation seriously, saying, "I’ve had a medium come over and ghost hunters ... There were so many times that I saw her when I was growing up ... When I was 3 years old my mom caught me talking to something by myself. She asked, ‘Who are you talking to?’ and I said, ‘My best friend Emily.’ She’s playful. Younger." Let's hope Emily remains a gentle spirit. We don't need her giving Lovato a 'Heart Attack.'

Kesha

The 'Crazy Kids' singer moved because her L.A. home was haunted. The occupation even inspired her smash hit song 'TiK ToK,' too! "I'd always try to convince my friends to spend the night, 'cause I wouldn't get haunted on if they were there," Kesha remembered. "I woke up one morning, surrounded by all my girlfriends. I woke up feeling like P. Diddy!" So something positive -- in this case, a memorable lyric -- came out of her being creeped out, right?

Lady Gaga

In 2010, it was reported that Gaga believed a ghost name Ryan was following and "annoying" her with his near-constant presence. It was reported that she was terrified, even though he did not do anything violent or scary. Ma Monster reportedly had a séance, since she believes in paranormal activity and would rather be safe than sorry. Gaga also believes that her late Aunt Joanne instilled her spirit within her from beyond. Joanne, who was a painter and a poet, died at 19 and Gaga thinks it is her calling to finish her deceased aunt's vision. Her real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, so...
