Charli XCX Covers Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ + Gives It a Pop-Punk Feel [LISTEN]

Subscribe to PopCrush on

When Charli XCX stopped by BBC Radio 1 (aka the mecca for unreal cover songs) the ‘Doing It’ singer covered Taylor Swift‘s ‘Shake It Off’ and gave it a totally sick pop-punk feel.

The British singer totally transformed the upbeat, peppy song into a completely badass, punk-like cover, complete with her distinct vocals, an insanely fast-paced drumbeat and some seriously cool cheerleader-like shouts in the background. (Maybe she was inspired by the music video?)

We love how Charli XCX puts her own unique spin on the tune, while still maintaining the super fun, carefree vibe of the song, even if it is in an entirely different genre.

Check out Charli XCX’s cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ in the video above! What do you think of it?
