If you could turn back time, would you travel to 1965 to watch Sonny and Cher sing their iconic duet, "I Got You Babe?"

Even for the most practiced "Dark Lady," time travel may not be in the cards, but James Corden has delivered the next best thing, arguably: "I Got You Bae," a Millennial-approved update of the smash over 50 years after it first impacted American radio.

During an appearance on The Late Late Show Thursday night (October 20), the pop diva joined the late night television host to sing their silly Tindr, Netflix and Chill, and Snapchat-referencing duet—but not before James had a little fun dressing up in Cher drag.

Rocking a head-to-toe black Cher-circa-'80s outfit—along with an insanely teased wig—James sauntered onstage, telling the diva, "Well, it’s a Sonny and Cher song, and I just thought I would be Cher."

"Yeah, but out of the two of us, what makes you possibly think you could be Cher?...I’m literally Cher!" the performer replied, laughing.

The two then launched into their performance of the upbeat, retro tune, Cher singing updated lyrics like, "They say we’re young and we don’t know, how to find love without using your phone!"

"Well I don’t know if all that’s true, 'cause you swiped me and baby, I swiped you," James responded, before the unlikely duo went in on the chorus with a timely, joint "Bae, I got you bae."

Later, the illustrious "Believe" singer sat down with her duet partner to talk about the origins of the classic song, where she revealed that when she first heard "I Got You Babe," in her mind she thought there was no way it could ever be a hit.
