Cheryl Tweedy Cole Fernandez-Versini is done fighting for this love with The X Factor...for now, anyway.

After four oh-so-very-GIFable seasons as a mentor — 2008 with winner Alexandra Burke, 2009 with winner Joe McElderry, 2010 with runner-up Rebecca Ferguson, 2014 with...err, she didn't come close to winning that year and 2015 with runners-up Reggie 'n' Bollie — the Girls Aloud member and English national treasure has announced that she will once again not be returning for the show's 13th season.

“I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor. I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I’ve missed making music and am excited to be recording again. I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best,” Cheryl said in a statement to ITV.

"She has started work on a new album which will be released later this year," ITV adds.

Cheryl's (whole lotta) history with The X Factor is a long and storied one: Not only has she strutted out some genuinely killer solo performances on the X Factor stage, but it also happens to be the place she first met her current beau, One Direction's Liam Payne. (Love is Payne — oh OH, oh OH!) She also, very briefly, had a stint on X Factor USA — until American audiences apparently couldn't handle her Geordie accent.

A follow-up to 2014's Only Human versus another season of reaction GIFs? Not such a tough toss-up: we'll take it. Onward and upward, Chezza!
