Hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty, who once managed Mariah Carey and 50 Cent, was found dead last week of a gunshot wound to the head in an apparent suicide. The music industry was shocked, and expressed extreme sadness at Lighty's passing. Rumors circulated that he had accumulated a massive tax debt, and he was in the process of divorcing wife Veronica. While the New York City medical examiner's office ruled the death a suicide, his brother Dave disputes that finding.

The Associated Press (courtesy of The Boombox) reports that Lighty, 44, was found dead in his Bronx apartment on Thursday (Aug. 30). A 9mm handgun was also found in the dwelling. The medical examiner concluded that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

However, Dave Lighty is casting doubt on the initial autopsy report. He refuses to believe that his brother shot himself because he claims that's not the type of person his sibling was nor was this something he would've done. He contends that his brother was of too strong a constitution to resort to suicide. He also refutes the idea that money woes would cause the rap exec to kill himself.

Lighty is obviously distraught at his brother's death and has resorted to asking the authorities to continue investigating the death so that he and his family can achieve some closure and peace regarding this tragedy.

"I'm surprised, shocked, and lost at this moment," Lighty told Fox 5 (quotes courtesy of WENN.) "I want the truth to come out. This isn't my brother. My brother was a strong person… Nothing is adding up. I can't get a direct answer from anybody… I understand there's a process to be followed. I can't even get clear answers from people I think I should be getting clear answers from."

He finished, "Everyone's like, 'That's not the Chris I know,' in no way, shape, or form. Things were popping. Yeah, we're in a bad economy, that's everywhere. Nah. Not this. We've been in way worse situations than this. I just want to know what really happened to my brother… I just want the truth. The truth."

The authorities have not revealed if they will heed Dave Lighty's wishes to further investigate or if they will accept the medical examiner's findings.
