Christina Aguilera Blings It on Latina Cover, Talks Estranged Father
Christina Aguilera is quite the busy cover girl in 2012 and we're only a few days into February.
With Marie Claire and Rolling Stone covers landing, Xtina also blings it on the March cover of Latina, which lands on stands on Feb. 14. The cover shot is a close-up of her beautiful face. Once again, she's ditched her signature Old Hollywood crimson lips for a softer, bubblegum pink hue worthy of that Minaj chick! With silvery smoky eyes and blinged out accessories -- that ring! Those earrings! -- Christina Aguilera reminds us that she is one of pop's reigning divas.
The feature probes deep issues, like her relationship with her estranged father. The Ecuadorean singer said she hopes they can sit down, have a meal and talk. It might be the first step toward healing. She admitted, "I’ve talked about how rough things were for me and I’m sure he’s heard it. He can’t be thrilled about it. So maybe one day we can do lunch… I’m 31-years-old now. Maybe it’s time.”
Other topics explored include her divorce last year, which was not a casualty of marrying young. "Was I too young? Not at all. I did the exact right thing at the time… I definitely wasn’t too young. I have always been older than my age," she explained.
She also addressed criticisms of being considered "not Latina enough." She admitted she doesn't speak the language fluently and to having a diverse background. "I’m split right down the middle, half-Irish and half-Ecuadorean. I should not have to prove my ethnicity to anyone. I know who I am," she said. Despite not speaking the language with fluency, she plans a second Spanish-language album down the road, declaring that "no one can tell me I'm not a proud Latina woman."
'The Voice' has a grueling schedule, so when she has a day off and her son Max is with his dad, she gets some beauty rest and much-needed, replenishing sleep. "I slept and I just slept. I love doing everything in my bed," she said about her rare day off. "Eating, sleeping… It’s my domain and my throne… I do it all in my bed." Uh, what about the crumbs? We know, most dudes wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating in bed!
