Christina Aguilera is officially embracing the digital age, finally! As one of the few hold-outs in an era where peers like Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and Rihanna are pulling back the curtain and communicating directly via Twitter, the recently troubled singer has officially joined the social media site.

By joining Twitter, Aguilera hopes to share her upcoming experience on the coaching panel of NBC's forthcoming singing competition series 'The Voice.'

Aguilera opened her Twitter account yesterday and quickly accumulated 42,000 followers.

Her virgin Tweet was simple and sweet: "Here goes my first Tweet! Brace yourselves... So excited to connect with all my fans here. xo - Xtina."

Aguilera previously promised that she would begin Tweeting after she announced that she would be joining 'The Voice.' We don't expect the singer -- who has been dogged by a rash of bad publicity after flubbing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl and being arrested for public intoxication a few weeks later -- to be spewing intimate details about her personal life in true Lindsay Lohan fashion. If she uses Twitter to promote the show, it will be an effective marketing tool for sure.

'The Voice' is set to debut on April 26 on NBC, and co-stars judges Cee-Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine. If you start following Xtina, you're bound to get all the updates and goings on related to the show.
