How I Met Your Mother actress Cobie Smulders has bravely revealed that she battled ovarian cancer at age 25.

Now 33, the actress — who proudly posed topless on the May 2015 cover of Women's Health just a few months after giving birth — opened up publicly for the first time about her courageous fight.

Smulders told the magazine that she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer while filming Season 3 of HIMYM.

"I had tumors on both ovaries and the cancer had spread into my lymph nodes and surrounding tissues," she explained, revealing that she endured multiple surgeries over two years in order to remove the cancerous tissue.

"I don't think I'll ever feel like I'm cancer-free," she said. "Now that I'm five years out, I'm trying to think of it as a positive thing and what can I learn from it. And if I can create more awareness, I'll do it."

Colbie Smulders joins the camaraderie of fellow actresses Angelina Jolie and Rita Wilson, who have also bravely spoken out about their own battles with cancer.

Angelina Jolie eloquently wrote about her choice to undergo multiple preventative surgeries, including a double mastectomy and surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes. Rita Wilson recently opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis and decision to undergo a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.

In addition to telling their own stories, all women revealed that they chose to do so in order to bring awareness to the cancers and to encourage women.
