During Joan Rivers’ recent appearance on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ (Feb. 26), she made a slew of rude and tacky comments about Adele’s weight that left a bitter taste in our mouths. Fellow comedian Adam Hills came to the British singer’s defense on a segment of his show, ‘The Last Leg.’ It’s about time someone put Rivers in her place.

Rivers mentioned meeting Adele at the 2013 Oscars –- but instead of praising her on her win of Best Original Song or her beautiful delivery of ‘Skyfall,’ she made fun of her size. "What’s her song? ‘Rolling in the Deep?’ She should add fried chicken,” she mocked.

Hills gave Rivers a taste of her own medicine, criticizing the 79-year-old TV personality in a similar scathing fashion to how she’d put down Adele. “If you make fat jokes about Adele, you're being a d---. And I’m referring to you, Joan Rivers," he said, pointing his finger accusingly.

He went on to say, "Adele is one of the very few women in pop music I want my daughter to look up to, and you're making jokes about the way she looks when you're so insecure about your own face you've spent more money on it than the producers of 'Life of Pi' spent on that tiger ... get a plastic surgeon to manufacture yourself a new soul."

Ouch. Maybe Rivers will think twice next time she tries to bash a well-respected celebrity.
