Daft Punk Deny Coachella Performances

We've come to rely on the Coachella Festival for its annual parade of hip names, big reunions, and unlikely stars making music out in the California desert, but this year's lineup may end up being more notable for who it doesn't include.

Weeks after rumors of an appearance by the Rolling Stones were debunked -- and just days after scheduled headliner Lou Reed pulled out, citing "unavoidable complications" -- Daft Punk has joined the list of artists who wold like you to know they won't be playing at Coachella.

Rolling Stone reports that a "stray listing" on the French electronic duo's Vevo page spawned the rumors, which have been rebuffed by a rep with a curt "Daft Punk is not performing at Coachella this year."

A Coachella appearance would have made sense -- not only because they delivered a memorable set at the 2006 festival, but also because they're prepping the release of a new album, 'Random Access Memories,' due May 21. Their first studio set since 2005's 'Human After All,' it's easily one of the more highly anticipated releases of the spring, not least because it reportedly boasts the involvement of funk/R&B legend Nile Rodgers.

'Random Access Memories' is currently available for pre-order through the band, but at least for the moment, there aren't any Daft Punk tour dates on the horizon. Perhaps they're just waiting for the right festival to come along. Mountain Jam, anyone?
