When Demi Lovato paid a visit to 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' last night (June 4), she did more than just show off her new purple locks -- she also talked about her belief that both aliens and mermaids exist. Yes, you read that right!

"I KNOW that they're real," she emphasized when the talk show host asked her if she thought aliens existed. "How self-centered would we be, as humans, to believe that we are the only living things in the universe?"

"Well, call me self-centered, 'cause I don't believe in aliens," Meyers replied, laughing.

But Lovato stuck to her theory, revealing that she is a "big fan of conspiracy theories" before launching into her speech on the existence of mermaids.

"I believe that there could possibly be mermaids, which is actually an alien species that live in parts of the Indian Ocean which we have never explored before as human beings," she explained. "And Christopher Columbus had actually seen three mermaids on his way to America."

She then revealed that she saw an "extremely convincing documentary" about the existence of mermaids on the Discovery Channel ("'The Little Mermaid'?" Meyers quipped)  but "the next day they had to say it was fake and then it went missing," Lovato said, eyes widening.

When Meyers asked if she thought they looked like the kind of mermaids illustrated in books, Lovato realized she dug herself in a deeper hole than she first thought.

"No, I mean, they look like aliens," she replied, cringing (and laughing!) at her answer.

We may not be on board with her theories, but if sea sirens did exist, we think they'd be pretty jealous of Demi Lovato's mermaid-like locks.
