Dani Vitale is speaking out about the "negativity" she's received following Demi Lovato's reported July 24 overdose.

On Sunday (July 30), Lovato's friend and backup dancer shared a message on Instagram slamming fans on social media who claimed she was a "bad influence" on the singer.

"I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance. I was not with Demi when the incident happened, but I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you," Vitale wrote.

"There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time," she continued. "There is too much of it in this world as it is."

Following Lovato's shocking hospitalization last week, fans of the pop star pointed a collective finger at Vitale, with some claiming that "every time [Demi] has a relapse this girl is in her life."

Though Vitale has since said that she wasn't with Lovato at the time of the performer's overdose, some fans pointed out that Vitale's speaking voice sounds similar to the voice of the anonymous woman who made the first call to 911 during the incident.

Others also pointed out that the party Lovato attended just hours before being found unconscious was Vitale's birthday party.
