This time of year, everyone is getting in the gift-giving spirit and counting their blessings for what they are most grateful for in life. As Demi Lovato reflects back at this time last year, she was struggling in her personal life when she entered into a treatment center for physical and emotional issues.

Lovato knows first hand what it's like to be in that place, wondering if things will ever take a turn for the better. This past weekend (Sunday, Dec. 4), the singer/actress decided to give those people who are walking down the same path she once was a bit of hope by returning to the treatment center in Illinois where she spent a few months of her life.

After leaving, Lovato took to her Twitter page to share her feelings in her heart after the uplifting day she experienced.

"Wow what an inspiring day," she wrote in the first of her series of tweets about her visit. "Many tears were shed and many memories were brought back at Timberline Knolls today."

"Today I went back to the treatment center I went to last year, to speak to the beautiful women fighting their inner demons ... was so honored to be able to share my story and let them know that it gets easier. Life is beautiful ... You are worthy of it. Please say a prayer for all of those struggling with eating disorders, self harm, mood disorders, and substance abuse."

While in Illinois, Lovato also performed at Chicago's Rosemont Theater. Next week, Lovato heads to Puerto Rico for a show at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot. Click here for a complete list of dates where Lovato will be appearing throughout the remainder of the year and into 2012.
