If mother does, indeed, know best, exes Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama might still wind up together.

Lovato's mother Dianna De La Garza, who's in the thick of a press tour for her new book Falling With Wings, told Access Hollywood Thursday (March 7) that she'd be happy to see her daughter wind up with her old flame.

“I do like them together,” she said. “I have to be honest — I would be happy if they were together forever, but I don’t know anything about a timeline or even if it’s going to happen.”

“They’re amazing friends and hopefully one day it will be more than that," she added. "And if it’s not, that will be up to her, I guess. But I do like them together.”

Lovato and Valderrama announced their breakup in June 2016, and said in an Instagram post: "...we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another."

The sparks never faded but there are issues that I haven’t conquered yet that I know I won’t conquer if I’m relying on somebody else to take care of the loneliness. I just wasn’t ready and there was so much in my life that I hadn’t explored yet," she said. "That was one of the reasons why we broke up because I’ve never been alone...It had nothing to do with falling out of love, we decided together we just probably are better as friends.
