On Saturday, Sept. 17, Demi Lovato performed for the first time in nearly a year. Lovato took the stage at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom to perform a variety of songs, including tracks off of her upcoming album 'Unbroken.' From the looks of these pictures from the concert, Lovato's performance was full of energy and creativity, equipped with choreography, costume changes, light shows, and a troupe of backup dancers.

Lovato looked gorgeous throughout the show, singing her heart out in an all-black wardrobe. At first, Lovato wore a longer, pin-striped blazer over her outfit, but she later removed this jacket to reveal a cropped, sparkly midriff top and a bias-cut skirt. She also wore tights and combat boots, giving her look a bit of edginess.

According to the New York Times, Lovato stopped singing a few lines into 'Skyscraper' to give her mostly-female audience a few words of encouragement. She said, "A year ago I was not in a good place, and I needed help. There are so many beautiful girls in this audience that don’t know that they’re beautiful, and they are." Lovato performed new tracks from 'Unbroken,' including 'Hold Up,' 'You’re My Only Shorty,' and 'Who's That Boy.' However, she also performed some older songs like 'Remember December,' 'Got Dynamite' and 'All Night Long' -- she even performed a cover of Lil Wayne's new track 'How to Love.'
