When news broke that DJ Mehdi had died after a horrible accident at his Paris home, stars like Drake immediately began to express their grief and condolences via Twitter. Although DJ Mehdi, whose real name was Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, was not a mainstream artist in the U.S., the Parisian was still huge in the international electro/hip-hop realm.
DJ Mehdi passed away at the tender age of 34, but went on to create a solid musical legacy. In addition to solo material, the French DJ also produced remixes for groups like Miike Snow and New Young Pony Club while collaborating with artists like Daft Punk and Chromeo on projects. Rest in peace, DJ Mehdi.
