Taylor Swift is releasing new music, so let the speculations begin!

In her new Rolling Stone interview, the 'Shake It Off' singer discusses a track that was inspired not by an ex, but by another recording artist.

Titled 'Bad Blood,' it's a response to the unnamed singer. In the interview, Taylor explains:

"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," she says. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" Then last year, the other star crossed a line. "She did something so horrible," Swift says. "I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational – you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it."

Naturally, the Internet is buzzing with potential pop stars, and Vulture seems to have narrowed down the suspect to Katy Perry. The site points to this Examiner interview describing how multiple dancers on Taylor's tour left to join Katy's.

Furthermore, Rolling Stone claims that Taylor admits there might have been a personal element contributing to the beef. The first thing that comes to mind is John Mayer, who famously dated both singers.

Lastly, there's a tweet from Katy herself, posted shortly after Taylor's interview went live:

While all of this evidence certainly forms a fair argument, at this point the rumors are just that -- rumors. And as is the case in all of her songs, Taylor isn't likely to name names. Looks like this is just one Swift question that will never officially be answered.
