The 'American Idol' panel is shaping up to be an interesting one! Dr. Luke has been confirmed as the third judge of the Fox ratings juggernaut.

E! News reports that the songwriter-producer, real name Lukasz Gottwald, was rumored to be near signing on for the reality show earlier this week -- and now he's sealed the deal.

Will.i.am was rumored to be in talks to judge the show, but he went back to judging 'The Voice U.K.' for a third season instead of switching reality loyalties to 'Idol' stateside.

Dr. Luke boasts hits like Kelly Clarkson's 'Since U Been Gone,' Katy Perry's 'California Gurls,' Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the U.S.A.' and Kesha's 'Tik Tok' under his belt, so in terms of creating a perfect pop star, it's understandable why he landed the gig. The man knows how to make hits!

The doc will join fellow returning judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez. There's still an open slot -- who do you think will take it? Tell us in the comments!
