Now that Ed Sheeran's got music and TV markets cornered, he's ready to kick off his film career.

Sheeran, who won an American Music Award Sunday (November 22) for Best Pop/Rock Male Artist, shared an Instagram photo yesterday (November 23) straight from the set of Bridget Jones's Baby. Above, he and star Renee Zellweger appear to be seated next to each other at a bar as a few fellow patrons look on from the background.

"Spent the day being an actor in the new Bridget Jones movie. Loved it, you're gonna love it too," he wrote.

Warning, plot-spoiling paragraph ahead: Where the first and second Bridget Jones films drew from books written by Helen Fielding, the forthcoming film will not be a direct adaptation of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, in which Colin Firth's character, Mark Darcy, is dead. Instead, the film will take inspiration from a series of subsequent columns Fielding has written, and Firth will return along with newcomer Patrick Dempsey.

Hugh Grant, who famously played Jones's boss/occasional object of her affection, Daniel Cleaver, will not return. He told The Independent last year that his days of romantic comedies may have passed.

"I do think that if it was just me and a girl batting our eyelids at each other in a full-out romantic comedy, I would look a little sinister and weird at the age of 54," he said.

Bridget Jones's Baby will premiere in September 2016.
