In a sad but touching story, it's been revealed that Ed Sheeran was able to grant 15-year-old Triona Priestley's dying wish of being serenaded by 'The A-Team' singer just minutes before she passed away.

Priestley, a girl from Dublin, Ireland who suffered from Cystic Fibrosis, was a fan of Sheeran's and long dreamed of hearing him sing, according to the Irish website Independent.ie. She reached the final stages of the disease and expressed a wish to hear Sheeran before it was too late.

According to a blog post by a friend of Priestley's, Priestley had hoped to see Sheeran in October but as her condition deteriorated, she instead listened to Sheeran's songs in order to cope with her illness. Her favorite song by Sheeran? 'Little Bird.'

On Sunday, a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #SongForTri trended on Twitter and it eventually caught the notice of Sheeran. Triona's brother, Colm, revealed that Sheeran and Triona shared a moment on the phone and sang Triona to sleep. Triona passed away just minutes after the call from the singer.

Sheeran later took to Twitter to express his remorse after learning of her death.

Colm later released a statement saying, "Myself and my family would like to thank Ed Sheeran and everyone who started and supported the #SongForTri campaign."
