It's official! Ed Sheeran just filmed a cameo appearance on the insanely popular Australian soap opera Home and Away.

"Yes we can confirm @teddysphotos (aka Ed Sheeran) was in #SummerBay today!" the show announced via Instgram on Tuesday (March 24), along with a photo of the "Thinking Out Loud" crooner on set. "Bet you can't wait to find out why... #HomeandAway."

The network also confirmed the exciting news.

"He will appear as himself in the series," Channel 5 said in a statement (quote via BBC). "But storyline details about what brings Ed to Summer Bay are being kept under wraps for now."

Home and Away is a long-running Australian soap that first debuted in 1988 and has kept viewers (and apparently, Ed Sheeran) hooked ever since. According to IMDB, the soap "chronicles the lives, loves, happiness, and heartbreaks of the residents of Summer Bay, a small coastal town in New South Wales, Australia."

Like the network stated, while we don't know the exact circumstances that bring the ginger god to Summer Bay, the BBC reports that he was photographed on set with actress Emily Symons, who portrays the character Marilyn Chambers.

While Ed himself has yet to share any details about his role, it's a good thing he filmed it already — considering he just revealed that his doctor placed him on vocal rest in between shows.

Ed Sheeran is currently on tour in Australia, playing a stretch of eight sold-out shows between March 24 and April 5. He'll then head to New Zealand to play even more sold-out shows. Because he is a straight-up boss. Head over to Ed Sheeran's official website to peep all of his tour dates.
