Ed Sheeran is good and tired of seeing the world through a screen, so he's going off the grid.

A few days ago, the British singer-songwriter posted rather cryptically on Twitter that he had one more show to play on his Multiply Tour and that he'd then be "buggering off for a while."

Like most fans, we just assumed he'd meant that would be his last show for a while, but boy were we wrong. In fact, the artist was alluding to his current (as of earlier today) social media break which, based on a message the artist posted, includes a break from other forms of communication technology. (Though honestly we're not sure how someone in the music industry is literally going to spend months without using a phone or at least e-mails.)

The message, which Sheeran posted (ironically enough) to his Instagram, reads: "I'm taking a break from my phone, emails, and all social media for a while. I've had such an amazing ride over the last give years, but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes, so I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed."

Sheeran also revealed that the break will likely consist of the better part of a year, the artist signing off, "See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing."

On a more positive note, the message did also add that a third album is "on its way," so cheer up, Sheerios!
