Actress Elizabeth Pena, whose most recent notable credits include TV’s ‘Modern Family’ and Disney/Pixar’s ‘The Incredibles,’ has died at the age of 55. The Los Angeles Times reports that Pena had been suffering briefly from an undisclosed illness.

Pena’s long career in film and television spans many notable titles, including 1987’s ‘La Bamba’ and the Steven Spielberg-produced ‘batteries not included.’ She would later have a guest role on ‘L.A. Law’ and also had a part in the first ‘Rush Hour’ film starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. Pena provided the voice of Mirage in ‘The Incredibles’ and recently starred as the mother of Sofia Vergara’s character in ‘Modern Family.’

She is survived by her husband, Hans Rolla, as well as her daughter Fiona and her son Kaelan.

We at PopCrush extend our sympathies to Pena’s family, friends and fans everywhere.
