'Lights' singer Ellie Goulding is going the Adele route with a new album documenting the end of a relationship. The record is called 'Halcyon' and drops on Oct. 9.

"This album for me is a journey from dark into light from confusion to understanding,” Goulding says in a press release. “I didn't set out to write a break-up record, but I think it became one."

'Halcyon' arrives on Oct. 9 and features the already-released Tinie Tempah collaboration 'Hanging On.' That track was just a tease, though, because the official first single is called 'Anything Could Happen' and will premiere with a lyric video on Aug. 13.

Goulding wrote every song on the album and co-produced them with Jim Eliot, known for his work with Kylie Minogue. Though Goulding has stated that she loves Los Angeles and is considering moving there, for the recording of 'Halcyon' she retreated to a barn in her hometown in the Hay Valley of England.

The new album is the follow-up to 2010's 'Lights.' More than a year after its release, the title track currently holds down No. 4 on the Billboard singles chart.

Goulding wrote on Twitter that she'll be posting some of the new music very soon:
