Ellie Goulding took the X Factor Australia stage to perform the first televised performance of her latest single, the electrifying “On My Mind,” earlier today (October 6).

Save for a light laser show, Goulding chose to keep the performance relatively simple. The vaguely reggae-inspired track really shines live, with the slight rasp to Goulding’s vocals lending to the aggressive nature of the song.

The performance comes just a few days after Goulding hit back at critics on Twitter who accused her of lip syncing during a recent live event. A technical difficulty at the start of her performance at the Australian Football League Grand Final caused a backing track for her hit “Love Me Like You Do" to go off prematurely. This isn't too huge a deal in itself, people make mistakes all the time. But the track included pre-recorded vocals, leading many to accuse Goulding of lip syncing.

The "Lights" singer responded to the backlash with a series of tweets, writing, "Love it when people think I lip sync—what a rad compliment… Considering I had no voice yesterday and a sleepless night because of the meds, I would say it’s been a good day… I give 100% in my performances even when people don’t give much back. My fans know that. That’s because I love what I do so much… Truth be told I’ve been unwell the past week and I could do with a long spell chill but I was determined to give everything for Oz today.”
