Avril Lavigne has teamed up with her longtime collaborator Evan Taubenfeld on his just-released track, 'Best Years of Our Lives.'

Going by Evan T. these days, Taubenfeld and Lavigne have created a wistful mid-tempo duet, that looks back on the mistakes they made in a now defunct relationship. The tune embodies the pop sensibilities of many of the Canadian star's tunes, which doesn't come as much of a surprise since Taubenfeld has been writing with Lavigne since 2004.

In the young, us-against-the-world tune, Taubenfeld's voice starts off strong and smooth, but progresses into Owl City-like territory closer to the chorus. Lavigne's familiar crooning provides a sobering contrast to her collaborator's vocals, but all in all, their regretful lyrics and pretty pop melodies create a catchy combination.

Taubenfeld unveiled his solo debut, 'Welcome to the Blacklist Club,' in May 2010. He released several singles from the LP, but made the biggest splash with his non-album track 'Merry Swiftmas (Even Though I Celebrate Chanukah),' which was inspired by Taylor Swift. In fact, after he posted the song on Twitter, the country star retweeted the link with the message, "THIS made me smile. : ) : ) : )."

Lavigne released her fourth studio album, 'Goodbye Lullaby,' in March, and after wrapping her Canadian Black star tour on Oct. 25, she will head to Japan to perform several dates in February.
