It's been five years since we were last invited into the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter. This November, however, that is all set to change with the release of the Harry Potter series spin-off film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

On Saturday (January 30) a brand new behind-the-scenes trailer was released for the forthcoming flick, giving viewers an opportunity to learn a little more about the plot and characters of the film.

Within the film's "vivid, lively, beautiful world," which takes place in New York City in 1926, we meet Eddie Redmayne's well-intentioned Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston's righteous Porpetina "Tina" Goldstein, Alison Sudol's glamorous Queenie Goldstein (sister to Tina), and Dan Fogler's adventure-seeking Jacob Kowalski, who brings a very interesting role into the Harry Potter canon. (Jacob is actually a Muggle—a No-Maj, as they're called in America—who gets caught up in the wizarding world after meeting Newt. Other than the Dursleys, who were more expository, secondary characters than anything, we really haven't had a central Muggle character participate in the Harry Potter universe!)

In addition, the special preview trailer reveals that the film marks J.K. Rowling's first screenplay. What's not revealed, however, are the titular "beasts" of the film, which seem like they are being kept under wraps until the film is released (or at least much closer to the film's release). Keeping in the tradition of trailers for iconic creature films like Independence Day and Jaws, the filmmakers are likely trying to build up curiosity by not showing the magical creatures at the center of the flick, creating an air of mystery and adventure.

As Fogler promises in the clip, "fans of Harry Potter [are] going to feel the nostalgia and love they have for the movies in a whole new light." Fantastic Beasts hits theaters November 18.
