Happy Earth Day! To celebrate Earth Day 2012, we are asking all of you PopCrush readers to vote on your favorite eco-friendly recording artist (from the pop genre, of course). There are tons of celebrities in the music scene who have supported environmental causes in the past, but we narrowed the list down to four of the most current and relevant green celebs: Coldplay, Drake, Maroon 5 and J. Cole.

Coldplay have always been an environmentally conscious bunch, and in 2011, the band openly endorsed ClientEarth, an organization dedicated to helping government officials and green groups develop environmental laws and spring them into action. Coldplay released an official statement saying, "ClientEarth is at the forefront of changing the way the planet's resources are governed. They have a positive and pragmatic approach to environmental issues, improving and enforcing environmental law. Coldplay are proud to support them."

Meanwhile, in 2010, Drake embarked on his Campus Consciousness tour. This tour, which was described as "half rock tour, half environmental campaign," brought the 'Take Care' rapper to college campuses all over the U.S. in order to entertain and spread awareness about issues that pose a danger to the environment while also promoting ideas as to how students can help save the planet. The tour itself was also eco-friendly, using the minimum amount of natural resources possible while traveling around and performing.

Maroon 5 are also quite eco-conscious, and the quintet even helped to develop the Green Music Project through Reverb. In 2006, they were also honored at the Environmental Media Awards, and the group has been very outspoken about the benefits of solar energy. According to their bio on Green Music Project's official website, Maroon 5 have "hosted more than 60 non-profit organizations in Reverb's Eco-Village, fueled their buses with 18,000 gallons of biodiesel, reduced the carbon footprint of their tours, and have offset hundreds of thousands of pounds of CO2."

Finally, there's rapper J. Cole, who like Drake and Maroon 5, has taken his love for the environment on the road. In April 2012, the rapper embarked on his Campus Consciousness / The Sideline Story tour in conjunction with Reverb to promote not only his debut album, but also ways in which people can improve the state of our environment. "My music gives me a platform to reach a lot of young people," J. Cole explained. "I’m happy to be partnering with Reverb to engage my fans and hope they’ll get on board with these positive environmental messages."

So, who is your favorite eco-friendly recording artist? Vote below and have a very happy Earth Day! We hope you spend it helping out Mother Nature.
