Fran Drescher Marries Shiva Ayyadurai, the Inventor of Email

He's no Mr. Sheffield, but Fran Drescher's new husband, Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, is even better -- he's apparently the inventor of email!

The former 'Nanny' star and tech wizard recently tied the knot, her rep confirms to PEOPLE. The happy couple, who have been dating for just over a year, married at their beach home in front of close friends and family.

The bride, who is also the star and co-creator of TV Land's 'Happily Divorced,' wore a Badgley Mischka gown, while the groom wore Ralph Lauren.

According to Ayyadurai, who owns the patent for email, the two first met after he gave a talk at an event.

"Fran heard my talk and we fell in love, and we've been together since that talk," he told the Huffington Post just a few weeks ago, gushing about his lady love.

"Every day is a celebration with Fran," he said. "Every day is almost a romantic hangout with her. We're always laughing, always enjoying ourselves."

Drescher was previously married to producer Peter Marc Jacobson for more than 20 years. Jacobson, who later came out as gay, co-created both 'The Nanny' and 'Happily Divorced' with Drescher.
