Frank Ocean + Chris Brown Case Is Closed, Despite New Revelations
TMZ is reporting that someone from Chris Brown‘s entourage threatened to shoot Frank Ocean and called him a homophobic slur during their Jan. 27 scuffle. But despite the serious nature of the new details, the case is now closed, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
TMZ obtained a copy of the police report from the incident, which contains Ocean’s side of the story. He said that after he refused to shake Breezy’s hand, Brown punched him. Ocean then heard the homophobic slur ‘f—–‘ from either Brown or one of his friends, and Brown told him, “We can bust on you too,” using a street term meaning to shoot someone.
Though the police report contains statements from two witnesses who support Ocean’s story, nobody involved in the dispute will be arrested. “The alleged victim does not want to move forward, so we are not going to move forward,” confirmed Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore.
Ocean initially said he was determined to press charges against Brown, but he had a change of heart. On his blog, he wrote, “I’m an artist and a modern person. I’ll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace.”
Ocean will perform at the 2013 Grammy Awards this weekend, where he is nominated for six awards. Breezy is also nominated but may have other problems to deal with, as the district attorney in his probation case now claims Brown falsified documents and never actually completed his required community service after his assault on Rihanna.
