A number of Kesha fans have rallied around the singer in an attempt to help her with her legal battle against Sony and Dr. Luke.

Not only have fans started a petition to get the label to release Kesha from her contract (which would finally allow her to put out new music), but some are planning to stage a protest outside the courthouse where her trial will begin in January.

According to Jezebel, the petition asks Sony to release Kesha from her current contract, which requires her to work with Dr. Luke, who Kesha alleges sexually and emotionally abused her over the course of her time working with him.

The petition states, "It’s our hope the court grants this injunction, but Sony can end all of this right now by voluntarily terminating Kesha’s contract with Dr. Luke.”

The protest, meanwhile, will reportedly take place outside the New York City courthouse where Kesha’s trial will be held and was inspired by a similar campaign in Brazil.

A fan named Michael, who co-runs the Twitter account @KeshaTODAY, is helping organize the protest. He explained the reasoning behind it via email to Jezebel, writing, "Sony needs to make the right decision and protect their artist because obviously Kesha is not going to work with the man who she says sexually abused her.”

He continued, "Yes there is a such thing as a contract. But there is also something called a flagrant disregard for human rights. My only hope is that Sony recognizes the voices of those who show to protest on the day of court. I want them to see dozens of Kesha’s fans covered in glitter, holding signs, and peacefully protesting for Kesha’s career.”

The petition currently has over 83,000 signatures.
